It is hard for China to cultivate creative thinkers the present Chinese society needs, so the educational system has to re-form. The paper analyses the dilemma in Chinese education, Dewey’s pedagogical ideas, and how Chinese educators can learn from Dewey’s ideas. Chinese higher education system and the examination system for admission to colleges and universities es-pecially liberal arts colleges need to apply Dewey’s pedagogical ideas and reform themselves in order to conform to the whole society.
