%It is a joint theme in The Killing of a Husband by Li Ang, a Taiwanese writer, and Shuijia Younü Chu Zhangcheng by Yan Geling, a sojourning writer in America, that features rural women who are in such despair that they“brandish knives”and kill when they suffer ill-treatment and humiliation in mercenary marriages.
