He advocated that the Catholic Church could go back to the holy and clean through the purification of ethics. Ignacio de Loyol, Jesuit's founder, carried forward the Erasmus hu- manism of Jusus. According to Erasmus' thought, he founded a new religious sect the Society of Jusus, a new method to cultivate the heart and soul and a new educational pattern which combined religion with science. Mat- teo Ricci was an outstanding missionary, known as the "first master of spreading Western academic eastward". His good moral cultivation, abundant scientific knowledge ,high humanistal accomplishment and special personal charm, all of these steming from the Society of Jusus were the sources of his sucess in the missionary work. In a word, there is an inner link thought from Erasmus to Loyol to Ricci. This is an important thread to study Matteo Ricci deeoly.
