the Merlion, as a symbol of Singapore, represents the hybridity of Singapore's unique ethnic variety and cultural identity. We can study the social feature of multiple cultural differences and ethnic coexistence from the implication of Merlion. The Chinese in Singapore is an important ethnic group. Owing to the mixed culture context it grows with, Singapore Chinese literature, or Xinhua literature, presents a unique tension in overseas Chinese literature.%鱼尾狮像作为新加坡的象征，代表着新加坡独有的多种族特征与文化身份的混杂性。可以借由鱼尾狮像的蕴涵，探讨新加坡保持多元文化差异与种族共存的社会特征。华人在新加坡是不可忽视的重要族群，面临着在纷繁复杂的文化构成中确立自己的文化身份的问题，文化混杂环境导致新华文学在海外华人文学中呈现出独特的张力。
