“类型说”与“要素说”是当前生态文明界定面临的主要分歧。从提出背景、理论逻辑和实践意义三方面来看，“类型说”更为可取。“要素说”把现代生态危机背景下提出的具有“后工业”色彩和“整体指向”的生态文明降格为一般意义上的生态文化，殊不足取。生态文明应界定为真正实现了人与自然和谐的理想社会状态，在广义上，也包含那些符合生态文明要求的具体文明成果。生态文明建设就是不断创造“生态文明因素”以实现从量变到质变的过程，必须注重与社会主义、和谐社会、科学发展观及物质文明、精神文明、制度文明建设的统一。%There are two main different theories that define Ecological Civilization,which are the Type Theory and the Element Theory.From the background,logic and practice meaning,it seems that the Type Theory is more reasonable.It is not suitable that the Element Theory made Ecological Civilization which has the characteristics of post industry society and integrity-oriented downgrade to common ecolo-gy culture..Ecological Civilization should be defined as the state of an ideal society,which has really a-chieved the harmony between human and nature.In broader sense,the concept should also include those specific civilization achievements which meet the requirements of Ecological Civilization.The construction of Ecological Civilization is a continual process that creates and accumulates Ecological Civilization ele-ments in order to meet its change targets from quantity to quality.It is necessary to keep good relations between Ecological Civilization construction and other important things,such as Socialism,Harmonious Society,Scientific Outlook on Development,Material Civilization,Spiritual Civilization and System Civi-lization.
