《孟子》一书与其所产生时代的礼俗有着密不可分的联系，这主要表现为书中孟子对待交际、事亲、丧葬等礼俗的态度，以及书中与礼俗相关部分所具有的文学意义。在《孟子》一书中，孟子对其所生活时代的礼俗既有认同的一面，又有超越的一面，而无论是认同还是超越，都有一个基本的出发点，这就是顺应“本性”，不失“本心”。礼俗因素的融入，不但丰富了《孟子》一书的内涵，也对《孟子》的思想表达方式、人物形象的描摹和文章的风格特色产生深刻影响，进而加深了全书的文学色彩。%Mencius relates closely with the etiquette and customs in the times when it was written. Mencius＇ attitude towards the customs of communication, parents attending, funeral rituals and his literary descriptions of the etiquette and customs show that man＇s ＂nature＂ and ＂real need＂ had been taken as his starting point though he accepted the customs on one hand, proposed more advanced norms on the other. The contents of the etiquette and customs had richened the connotation of Mencius and influenced the work on expression ways, image portrayal and literary style. Thus, the literary flavor of this work was deepened greatly.
