范伯群先生自20世纪50年代以新文学作家论开始其学术研究，20世纪70年代末，转向通俗文学研究。三十余年里，他致力于为通俗文学在文学史上“翻案”和建构完整的通俗文学理论体系。在完成了通俗文学的基础工程之后，他以文学史家的身份积极探讨通俗文学入史的一系列问题，努力倡导构建“双翼”展翅翱翔的多元共生的中国现代文学史。至今，犹笔耕不辍，务期为中国现代通俗文学作家摘掉“鸳鸯蝴蝶派”的帽子，重新加冕“市民大众文学”的桂冠。在“溯古揽今”的纵向思维中，打通了古代、现代、当代市民大众文学在文学史上的演变历程，提出了市民大众文学“冯梦龙们—鸳鸯蝴蝶派—网络类型小说”古今发展的“文学链”。%Fan Boqun started his research of literature by commenting on the writers of the New Literature from 1950s. Then he turned to the Popular Literature at the end of 1970s. Over 30 years, he dedicated himself to the reverse of the traditional view of the popular literature in the literary history and the construction of the theoretical system of popular literature. He, as a literary historian, actively explored a range of issues for the popular literature to become a part of the literature history and strived to build the History of Modern Chinese Literature, which was pluralistic coexistence with “two wings” lfying after completing the foundation works of popular literature. At a ripe old age, he is still working, aiming to cast off the “butterlfy school” hat for Chinese modern popular literature writers and re-crown them the crown of “the public literature”. In the longitudinal direction, he discovers the evolutional course of ancient, modern and contemporary public literature in the literary history, putting forward that the “Feng Menglong- the Butterfly School- the Internet novels” is a“Literary Chain” of mass literature favored throughout the times .
