But this is not adequate enough to supplement or even replace the law of the uni-ty of opposites. Trinary division is not a form of contradiction but one of relation. The concept of "inter-mediary" is generally applicable as an important category of philosophy, but no intermediary is indepen-dent of the two opposite sides of a contradiction. Although it is helpful to apply the concepts of trinary di-vision and binary division to illuminating the theory of dialectics, their limits must not be neglected.
