Chinese noun-plural marker“-men”is similar in form to English noun-plural affix “-s”, but different in terms of features like [±definite],[±animate] and [±associative]. The present paper discusses the syntactic and semantic constrains that are universal to all human languages, which lead to the different distribution of Chinese“-men”from that of English“-s”.%汉语名词复数附加语“们”和英语名词复数后缀-s在形式上有相似之处,但二者在“定指”、“生命特征”、“关联性”方面存在区别。文章从句法语义视角对英汉名词复数标示语的功能进行了对比,认为名词复数标示语和名词之间的句法语义制约关系在不同的语言中都具有普遍性。
