Xun Chang is a homograph in ancient Chinese, respectively belonging to disyllabic words of which two semantemes have synonymous relation and the other disyllabic words which two semantemes have homologous relation. As disyllabic words which two seman⁃temes have synonymous relation,Xun and Chang’s initial meaning was“short or small things”. This word produced an opposite sememe“long or enough things”at the same time. Both the two sememes died out in the Ming dynasty. In the Southern and Northern Dynasties Pe⁃riod,Xun and Chang constituted disyllabic words which two semantemes had homologous relation. Its’initial meaning was“frequently or usual”. And it produced an extended sense“ordinary”by means of cause-and-effect linkage soon. In the development of the sememe“or⁃dinary”,it gradually occupied the leading position in Xun Chang’s sememes, and became the only sememe of Xun Chang today.%古代汉语中的“寻常”分别是类义并列复音词和同义并列复音词,两者是同形词。
