Diarylheptanoids, most of which appearing in the areas of anti-inflammatory, anti-oxidative, superoxide scavenging and anti-hepatotoxic effects, constitute a distinct group of metabolites of natural plants characterized by two aromatic rings linked by a linear seven aliphatic chain.
