浅析英语新词的构词特点

Vocabulary is the essential element of language and is most sensitive to social changes. Neologism refers to a newly coined word or phrase, or an existing word or phrase with a new meaning. There are three main ways to coin new words in English： borrowing, old words with new meaning and creation. Creation, the major source of English neologisms, is the process by which new words are formed through traditional word-formation, including affixation, compounding, blending, shortening and analogy.%词汇是语言中的基本要素，对社会的变化最为敏感。新词就是一个最近创造的词或词组，或者一个附加了新的义项的现有的词或词组。英语当中的新词产生有三种主要的方式：外来语的借用、旧词新用、创造新词。创造新词是通过传统的构词法构成新的词汇，这是英语新词的主要来源，其方法主要有词缀法、合成法、拼缀法、缩略法和类推法几种。
