This paper mainly discussed the influence of the media on the style change from the per-spective of the novels in the transition period of the late Qing Dynasty. The influence of modern newspapers and periodicals on literary style,firstly,externally and directly reflected that it had changed the traditional pattern of literary genre,making the traditional poetry from the center of the style to the edge of it,the novel became the most important literary genre of the modern literature. The changes of style pattern brought the solution which Chinese modern novel theoretical resources absorbed the legitimacy. Establishing the novel style central position made it legitimacy in such as-pects as absorbing resources from Chinese traditional culture,referring to ideas from the West litera-ture,art forms,etc. Meanwhile,the nature of modern media drove the literary genre to adjust and change,and then producing this new literary genre of long series in modern newspapers and periodi-cals,and on the basis of this genre,a new literary form-the modern short story,eventually formed.%从晚清转型期小说媒介的角度，探讨传播媒介对小说文体变革的影响。近代报刊对文学文体的影响，首先外在地直接表现在它改变了传统的文学体裁的格局，使得传统诗文从文体中心走向边缘，小说成为现代文学中最为重要的文学体裁。文体格局的变化带来了中国现代小说理论资源吸收合法性问题的解决。小说文体中心地位的确立使得它从中国传统文化吸收资源和借鉴西方文学观念、艺术形式等方面具有了合法性。同时，现代传媒自身的性质驱使文学体裁进行调整改变，调整之后就产生了现代报刊长篇连载这种全新的文学体裁，并在这种体裁的基础上最终形成了现代短篇小说新的文学形式。
