Then what is the relation between language and thought? According to Vygotsky, Ontogenetically, thought and language have different roots, merging only at certain moment in ontogenesis, after which the two functions develop together under reciprocal influence. This paper aims to introduce how Vygotsky’s conclusion was drawn and points his limits historically.
