English passive voice plays special functions in constructing texts with its unique structure. This paper analyzes its application in particular texts and points out that the passive voice can convert a topic, cohere a topic, stress a topic and hide a topic.%英语被动语态在语篇构建过程中以其特殊的结构形式发挥着独特的作用。本文通过分析被动语态在具体语篇中的应用，发现被动语态在语篇中发挥着转换话题、连接话题、突出焦点信息、隐藏焦点信息的功能。
