%Chinese character, as a kind of “abstract image”, is the essence of Chinese calligraphy and provides a solid underpinning for the origins and development of it. The remains of Pre-Qin ancient Chinese characters, such as inscriptions on bones and tortoise shells, bronze inscriptions and stone-drum inscriptions, have embodied the sacred and solemn esthetics style of original Chinese calligraphy. Also, quantities of Pre-Qin calligraphy unearthed in modern times have further enriched our understanding of the writing ways at that time and the evolution of structure of Chinese characters. Therefore, the history of Chinese character writing and the history of Chinese calligraphy are a whole with dual-purpose. As the original “chaos” of Chinese calligraphy, in some aspects, Pre-Qin ancient Chinese characters are norms and unreachable models.
