Xumifushou Temple was built by the Emperor Qianlong of the Qing Dynasty for the Sixth Panchen Lama from Tibet. It was the youngest one among the Eight Outlying Temples in Chengde, and the structure of the temple was patterned on Tashilhunpo Monastery in Xigaze of Tibet which was the palace for Panchen Lama. In 1780, the Panchen Lama came to Beijing voluntarily without summon from the emperor. The emperor of Qing Dy-nasty took the religious policy of “respecting one to please tens of thousands”, and built the temple at a cost of huge sum of money. Xumifushou Temple as a combination of Hans and Tibetan architecture si the representative of an emperor's governing strategy and the monument of national unity.%须弥福寿之庙是承德外八庙中兴建最晚的一座喇嘛庙,是乾隆皇帝仿六世班禅在西藏日喀则扎什伦布寺的居所而建。1780年,班禅大师“不因召至而出于喇嘛自愿来京”,清帝遂采取“敬一人而千万悦”的宗教策略,不惜重金,落成此庙。须弥福寿之庙是清政府推崇藏传佛教,结好边疆少数民族,最具代表性的藏汉艺术结合的建筑典范,是民族团结的丰碑。
