《黄秉义日记》的作者黄秉义是台州葭沚人，曾于清末考取詹事府供事，民国后为第二届国会众议员。此日记记于1902~1918年，现存共六十三册，对清朝末年、辛亥革命及民国初年的时政大事、浙东社会生活、官场商界人物轶事、诗联书画品评等有较多记载，是这一重要历史时期不可多得的士人亲历所记，具有较高的历史文化价值。%Huang Bingyi was once a second-session congressman of the Republic of China,writ-ing diaries from 1902 to 1918 ,totaling 63 volumes recording major events of the late Qing Dynasty,1911 Xinhai Capitalist Revolution,political events of the early Republic of China,east Zhejiang Province’s social life,anecdotes of political and business cir-cles,and comments on poetry and paintings. It is argued that his diaries are of signifi-cant historic value.
