T he coordinative development of urban-rural areas is the requirement of scientific out-look on development ,and has its unique significance for Guangxi .There are five strategic points :de-veloping balanced urban-rural areas ,building new socialist country ,achieving the target of “nurturing agriculture by industry”and“city spurs on village” ,promoting the integration of urban and rural are-as ,and achieving the positive interaction between city and countryside .Now ,handling the relation be-tween building socialist new village and promoting urbanization correctly is the key point to coordinate the development of urban-rural areas .T hus ,as to the coordinative development of urban-rural areas , building new socialist country is the foundation ,which should be carried out with the other four stra-tegic points .T he new tow n urbanization is the key point to the coordinative development of urban-ru-ral areas ,w hich should take the firmness of industrial foundation and ecological restraints into consid-eration .%城乡统筹发展是科学发展观的要求，对广西还有独特意义。它覆盖城乡均衡发展、建设社会主义新农村、实现以工补农和以城带乡、推进城乡一体化、实现城乡良性互动这五个战略要点。正确处理建设新农村与推进城镇化两者之间的关系，是当前统筹城乡关系的重点和难点。为此，建设新农村是城乡统筹发展的基础，需要在城乡统筹发展的其他五个战略要点配合下进行。新型城镇化是城乡统筹发展的关键，其发展要注重产业基础的厚实与生态约束。
