摘要

Susan Sontag, the prominent American female writer, always regarded travel as part of her life and her literary creation. Travel sparked her writing inspiration and writing promoted the fulfillment of self-making. This paper is a tentative study of the influence of her political and intellectual travel on her writing and attempts to probe into the profound causes of her attachment to“travel complex”. Travel is a re-flection of her aspiration to bury her childhood trauma, her craving to hunt for truth and her wish to fashion a transcendent self via transforming her writing strategies. Travel is used to escape from and rebel against trauma, but it actually intensifies the depressing memories of her miserable childhood. Travel also consti-tutes the implicit theme of all her fictional writing. The spiritual predicament the characters undergo in her different fictional works is the endorsement that Sontag experienced in her own spiritual journey.%美国著名女作家苏珊·桑塔格始终把旅行视为生活与写作的一部分。旅行点燃了她创作的灵感，书写帮助她实现自我重塑的愿望，她的政治旅行和精神旅行都对她的文学创作产生了重要影响。她酷爱旅行有着深层动因，旅行折射出桑塔格对自我重塑的渴望———渴望埋葬无根的童年，渴望发现被遮蔽的事实真相，渴望通过不断变革创作风格来实现小说家的自我重塑。旅行以对变化的渴望反抗难以消解的创伤，结果却强化了童年的创伤记忆。旅行也是桑塔格虚构文学创作的隐性主线，人物精神困境何尝不是作家精神旅行的一种背书。
