由于新、旧唐书及新、旧五代史均无王希羽的传略，对王希羽的人生史迹，只有从五代、宋、元诸多史料笔记与其他文献里搜求。唐昭宗天复元年（901），七十三岁的王希羽方进士及第，一生官职也只是短暂的秘书省正九品校书郎。但由于他“词艺优博”，诗歌造诣的底蕴丰厚的影响，元代著名文学评论家辛文房，将其以附传者身份入录《唐才子传》。在中华民族复兴伟士工程进程中，探索王希羽履历史迹，对其现存诗章进行研究，对社会主义文明社会文化的繁荣和发展，甚有裨益。%No brief biography of Wang Xiyu can be found in New and Old Book of Tang History, and Old History of Five Dynasties, his life history can be only sought in the historical materials and note and other literature. In the period of Emperor Zhaozong of Tang(901) , Fang Xiyu, at the age of 73, succeeded passing the imperial examination, and his office position is the nine grades of rank in the feudal regimes in Palace Library. For his profound accomplishments of poetry, he was recorded in A Biography of Talent in Tang Dynasty by the literary critic Xin Wenfang in Yuan Dynasty. In the rejuvenation of the Chinese nation, the exploration of Wang Xiyu is beneficial to prosperity and development of social culture of socialist civilization.
