纽曼与加塞特大学思想之比较及其现实意义

     

摘要

纽曼和加塞特对于大学里理智培养的合理性有类似的看法,而对大学里专业教育和科学研究的合法地位却持有不同意见,前者主张将专业教育和科学研究完全排除出大学,后者则主张以理智培养和专业教育共同造就优秀的专业人员,同时以科研为基础,保证大学教育的质量。二者的大学思想都有一定的合理之处,而比较分析则更有助于认识二者思想的重心与差异,同时也为反思当前大学使命与改革大学教育等问题提供有益借鉴。%Newman and Gasset hold similar perspectives on the rationality of intellect training at universities,but their views on professional training and scientific researches were different.Newman thought that professional train-ing and scientific researches should be eliminated from a university,however,Gasset considered that excellent pro-fessionals should be educated through both intellect training and professional training.Besides,scientific researches can guarantee the quality of higher education.Both of their ideas have some reasons.A comparative study of their ideas of university is conducive to clarify their implications and differences,and offer theoretical references to reex-amine the missions of universities and reform higher education at home now.
