迈克尔·坎宁安的小说《时时刻刻》对于死亡的书写占了很大的比重，主要体现在对弗吉尼亚·伍尔夫及理查德死亡的细腻描写和对深水长眠、孤寂凄凉死亡意境的呈现。而作者之所以进行死亡书写主要有两方面的动因，即阐释死亡带来的美感以及对人类生存困境的反思。在死亡书写中，寄予着作者对女性精神困境的关注以及战胜苦难、超越生死的积极意义，在这一层面上《时时刻刻》具有了强烈的现实主义精神和温暖的人性关怀。%Michael Cunningham’s novel The Hours accounted for a large proportion of death writing ,that mainly reflected in the delicate description on the death of Virginia Woolf and Richard ,as well as on the submarine and desolate death prospect . There are two reasons for death writing ,the one is the interpretation of death beauty ,and the other one is the self-examination on the universal dilemma of human existence .Death writing implicates the concern to female mental predicament and the positive sig-nificance of defeating sufferings and beyond the death .In this way ,The Hours gains a strong realistic spirit and a warm humanis-tic care .
