The teaching aim of maritime major in the ocean universities is to ensure the coming mariners ’ abili-ty to use English in the international shipping business and their daily communication activities .This paper dis-cuses the relative theories about the teaching of English films and the necessity and feasibility of it .It points out the function and advantages of English films in cultivating the cross-cultural communication ability of maritime students.%海洋高校涉海专业英语教学的目的是使得未来海员能运用英语顺利开展国际航运业务和日常交际活动。本文探讨了英文电影教学的有关理论、英文电影教学的必要性和可行性，指出英文电影在涉海专业学生跨文化交际能力培养中的作用和优势。
