Since 1950s, the Taiwan authorities have formulated a series of sci - tech development strategies and policies. These strategies and policies had obtained an amazing technical achievements and powerfully in promoting Taiwan's advance in technology and economic and social developments. The overall performance of sci - tech development and economic development are analyzed from the two aspects of sci - tech strength and regional economic competitiveness, and are compared with that in Chinese mainland, Japan, Korea, etc. It shows that the performance of sci - tech policies is relatively high in Taiwan. The basic characteristics of sci - tech policies are summarized in Taiwan.
