Chalkiness is an important part of rice appearance quality. To understand the formation mechanism of rice chalkiness and its influence factors is of great significance to further improve the rice quality. This paper mainly summa-rized formation mechanism of chalkiness,genetics of chalkiness and the effect of external conditions on chalkiness,and put forward some improvement measures in order to provide some references to high quality rice breeding and cultivation.%垩白品质是稻米外观品质的重要组成部分,了解稻米垩白形成机理及其影响因素,对于进一步提高水稻稻米品质具有重要意义。对稻米垩白形成机理、垩白遗传及外界条件对垩白的影响进行了综述,提出了几点改良措施,以期为优质水稻育种与栽培提供参考。
