A histological study of the lower end of the esophagus was made in 23 corpses. Sections of esophagus were taken along the greater curvature side and the lesser curvature side of the stomach respectively. Microseopic findings revealed that the longitudihal musculature is normal, and the circular layer at 2-4mm above the gastry-esophageal junction is the thickest part of the specimen, and its thickness increases with the age of the body. Its thickness is 0.38mm on the greater curvature side(0.31mm on the lesser curvature side)in fetus, 0.45mm(0.41 mm) in prematures, 0.49mm(0.52mm) in neonates and 0.78mm(0.66mm)in infants. The thickened cardia esophagus becomes thinner gradually as it extends 5-7cm toward the esophagus and 17-25cm toward the stomach.%作者选用无消化道畸形的胎儿、新生儿及婴儿尸体23例,在光镜下观察食管下端肌层发育情况.发现该处环肌有限局性增厚,且在胃食管交界上方2~4mm处最厚,由此向两侧呈锥形变薄,胃大弯侧较其它处更厚;环肌增厚的程度及长度均随年龄增长而增加.
