AIM: To evaluate the efficacy of calcium hydroxide (Ca( OH)2) and chlorhexidine gel on theelimination of intratubular Enterococcus faecalis. METHODS: Sixty single-root teeth were infected with E. Faecalis. The infected teeth were randomly divide into four groups, with 15 teeth in each group. The teeth were then treated with Ca(OH)2, 20 g/L chlorhexidine gel, Ca(OH)2 plus 20g/L chlorhexidine gel, or saline (0.9% NaCl) as a negative control. Dentin samples at the depth of 0 to 100 mm and 100 to 200 mm from these root canal preparations were collected by GG drilling. The collected dentin was diluted by ten-fold gradient and plated on BHI agar plates. After 24 hours, CFU was counted to compare the bacterial survival. RESULTS: A significant decrease in the number of CFUs of viable E. Faecalis was observed after treatment with three experimental groups when compared with the control group, and a significantly statistical difference was found between the experimental groups and control group (P < 0. 05). Chlorhexidine gel had a significantly higher antimicrobial efficacy as measured by the number of CFUs of viable cells than Ca(OH)2. No difference was observed between the antimicrobial properties of chlorhexidine gel with and without the addition of Ca(OH)2(P>0.05). CONCLUSION; Both Ca(OH)2 and chlorhexidine have antimicrobial effects on E. Faecalis. Chlorhexidine gel has increased antimicrobial activity when compared with Ca(OH)2.%目的:检测氢氧化钙和洗必泰凝胶根管封药对粪肠球菌的抑制作用.方法:将成功建立粪肠球菌感染的60个根管模型,随机分成4组,每组15个样本,分别用氢氧化钙、20g/L洗必泰凝胶、氢氧化钙和20g/L洗必泰凝胶联合、生理盐水(空白对照组)进行根管内封药处理,14d后,分别用5号和6号CG钻钻取根管内壁层深0～100 μm和100～200μm的牙本质,收集碎屑,用BHI梯度稀释后进行细菌培养和计数.结果:无论在根管壁深0～100 μm处,还是100～200μm处,空白组均有大量的细菌生长,而3个实验组根管内粪肠球菌明显减少,分别与空白对照组相比,差异均具有统计学意义(P<0.05);各实验组之间相比,氢氧化钙组活菌数最高,与其他两组相比,差异均有统计学意义(P<0.05),其次为20g/L洗必泰凝胶组,氢氧化钙联合洗必泰组最低,但与单独使用洗必泰组相比,差异无统计学意义(P>0.05).结论:在根管封药中,氢氧化钙和洗必泰均对粪肠球菌有较好的抗菌性,其中洗必泰凝胶的抑菌作用更强.
