This paper introduces the traditional technique of position estimation of switched reluctance motor (SRM), and then shows the analysis of this method on asymmetric inductance condition. This method bases on sensofless control of SRM, and it is accepted by many researchers. Most of them use it to estimate the rotor position at standstill in order to make sure the SRM could start smoothly without any sensor of position. Each phase is exited with a narrow voltage pulse, and the suitable phase should be selected by comparing the resultant current.
