In this study genetic diversity of 82 Cucumis melo L. germplasm accessions was evaluated under humid and rainy weather condition in Nantong,Jiangsu Province. The results showed that all collected varieties were able to grow mature,and the average fruit weight of most varieties was about 1.0-2.0 kg. The average cavity ratio was 51.8% ,and the cavity ratio of most varieties was between 45% and 60%. The flesh thickness of 79% varieties was greater than 2.5 cm,and the soluble solids content in the center of fruit of 19 varieties was more than 12%. Furthermore, the number of round-shaped, oval -shaped and long shaped fruit; and the number of flesh type crisp and soft were observed at similar frequency. This study will be helpful for breeding of oriental melon in South China.%对引进的82个甜瓜品种资源的遗传多样性进行了鉴定和评价.结果表明,在江苏南通沿海地区气候条件下,82个品种均能正常成熟；多数瓜质量为1.0～2.0 kg;平均空腔比为51.8％,多数品种的空腔比集中在45％～60％;有79％的品种果肉厚度为2.5 cm；而中心可溶性固形物含量在12％以上的仅19个品种,占总数的23％；瓜形中圆形、椭圆形和长形瓜所占比例以及果肉脆型和面型品种比例均无显著差异.此研究结果将有助于甜瓜品种资源在新品种选育中的进一步利用.
