Owing to different practical conditions, the allowable values of risk in European codes for lightning disaster risk assessment are not completely suitable for current situations in China when using IEC 62305 to assess the risk of lightning disaster. More reasonable acceptable standard for risk assessment of lightning disaster should be formulated based on regional characteristics in China and the principle ALARP (as low as reasonably practicable) .
