Yudong Area, archaeologically consist of today’s eastern part of Henan Province, south -western part of Shangdong Province and north-western part of Anhui Province. Yueshi Culture of Yudong Area originated from Wangyoufang Type of Longshan Culture and later were replaced by Erligang Upper Layer which extended from west. For its obvious local characteristics Yueshi Culture of Yudong Area can be regarded as a local type; but wholly speaking,Yueshi Culture of Shandong and Yudong belong to the same series. Yueshi Culture of Yudong Area neighboured on Erlitou Culture in west, and on Pre-shang Culture in north. It is inevitable that Yueshi Culture of Yudong contained some elements of Erlitou and Pre-shang Culture. It reflected the picture of Yudong Area of Xia Dynasty when Xia, Yi and Shang-three kinds of archaeological cultures interchanged and affected mutually.
