Methodological study of the Moberg's Pick-Up Test and Dellon's Object Identification Test.

The Moberg Pick-Up Test and Dellon's Object Identification Test are two widely used tests to judge hand function. However, there has been no studies that demonstrate the reliability and validity of these tests. This thesis examined test-retest reliability. For the Pick-Up Test, test-retest did not meet a high enough correlation value. For the Object Identification Test only a few objects on both sides had high enough correlation values. Concurrent and construct validity were also examined for these tests. The results of this research does not demonstrate the reliability and validity of these tests. Therefore, occupational therapists should not use them until such a research study proves otherwise. However, this thesis does make it possible for future occupational therapists to continue this research.
