This study develops a curriculum cycle and course design specifically targeted to Acupuncturists who speak English as a second language working in America. The study is based on a needs analysis and learning style preferences of the target group. The needs analysis revealed that the target group's predominant need is to become accustomed to communicate with English speaking patients with comfort. The learning style preferences study revealed strong learning style preferences for simulation activities led by the instructor focusing on a practical use of English. The curriculum cycle aims to encourage good doctor-patient relationships by developing the use of appropriate and effective language and provides the means whereby the acupuncturists can overcome the linguistic and communicative disadvantages they often feel within the profession as a result of problems in communication with patients. The researcher devised written conversation unit samples.
