Use of redundant control systems in industrial applications.

摘要

This thesis project is intended to implement three forms of redundancy on two programmable logic controllers (PLCs) consisting of two networks to facilitate communications between the two PLCs and hardware redundancy that would allow one PLC to perform its task and the task of the other PLC in the event of its PLC failure. This form of redundancy allows operations and/or production to continue with out interruption as long as the physical devices and mediums are intact and functioning. This application would not only be useful in the industrial and manufacturing world, but also useful in areas such as naval warships, space exploration, and any other area where system functionality is mission critical.
