摘要

作为语言学习者必须掌握的四项基本技能之一,阅读近年来受到越来越多人的关注,尤其是语言学研究者,学者以及英语教学第一线的教师。阅读不仅能扩大学生的词汇量,提高阅读综合理解能力,而且是我们获取新知识的重要途径。因此,在各高校,英语泛读一直是作为英语专业学生大一及大二阶段的必修主干课程。
  然而,我们通过对学生实行问卷调查和课堂观察发现,阅读课并没有受到学生足够的重视。学生普遍认为阅读课程太枯燥。经分析,阅读课主要存在以下几个问题:1.阅读教材过于陈旧。2.阅读材料题材单调,与生活脱节。3.学生自身词汇量少。4.阅读技巧不会灵活使用。5.教学方法单一,学生学不到东西。这些因素导致学生对阅读课不感兴趣,甚至是倦怠,阅读课程达不到应有的教学效果。
  因此,为了改变这种现状,笔者参考了前期的相关文献及研究成果,把报纸阅读引入到阅读课程中。英文报刊具备了信息量大,题材新颖,时效性强,趣味性强等优点,它可以有效地补充传统阅读教材的不足,激发学生的学习兴趣,调动学生的学习积极性,从而提高学生的阅读理解能力。基于克拉申的输入假说理论以及情感过滤假设,本文对英文报纸阅读对阅读课堂的影响和对阅读能力提高的效果进行了探讨,并且尝试了各种提高课堂效率的教学方法。本次实验的对象为嘉兴南洋职业技术学院英语专业大二两个班级的学生,研究为期一个学期,选用的补充阅读材料为《中国日报》和《21世纪英文报刊》。实验过程主要从两方面来利用阅读材料:一是课上教师引导进行有目的性的选读,鼓励学生集体讨论;二是课外学生根据自己的阅读兴趣自选阅读,并培养其写读书笔记的习惯。实验结果表明,英语报纸阅读改变了学生对阅读课程的态度,激发了学生阅读的兴趣,并且通过对测试结果的对比发现学生阅读能力有一定的提高。通过此次实验,笔者也探索出一些切实可行的教学方法,期望在接下来的教学中能将报纸阅读的效果发挥到最佳。
