从语域分析角度探讨《尼罗河上的惨案》中的人物对话翻译

摘要

语域理论是功能语法的一个重要理论，语域包括三个变量：语场，语旨和语式。语篇的语场相当于主题。语篇的语旨展示交际参与者的关系。语篇的语式决定交际的方式。
　　 人物对话在小说中起着十分重要的作用。它不但能够推动情节发展，描绘客观环境，更重要的是它能塑造人物形象，揭示作品主题。高度个性化的人物对话语言取决于各种因素，如对话中说话人与听话人的身份、地位、双方关系、教育程度的高低、语言运用的能力和习惯、对话的即时情境以及对话的内容与目的等等。而上述因素又与语域理论中的三个变量紧密相关。
　　 在翻译小说对话的过程中，从原文语篇的语域特征出发，对语域的三个变量进行分析，能够帮助译者更好地解读作品，从而在目的语中重现人物对话的个性特征，刻画人物性格，还原人物形象，真正做到“言如其人”。
　　 本文以阿加莎·克里斯蒂的小说《尼罗河上的惨案》中典型人物对话为个案，从语域分析的视角，比较分析两个不同中文译本在语场、语旨、语式三个变量方面重现人物个性特征，刻画人物形象的优劣，从而论证将语域分析应用于小说人物对话翻译中的必要性和可行性。
