电子词典对高职院校学生英语写作和词汇习得的作用

摘要

随着电子词典的使用在英语学习中的普及，越来越多的研究者们把目光锁定在电子词典对英语阅读及写作的影响研究上，同时，电子词典的使用策略也成为热门话题。这些研究者们的研究对象主要是本科院校学生。而对于英语基础相对薄弱的高职院校学生来说，其英语写作和电子词典使用的现状则鲜为人知。由于词汇量以及英语学习动力的缺乏，高职院校学生对英语写作存在着惧怕心理。因此，对高职院校英语教师来说，如何找到行之有效的写作教学方式是一大挑战。
　　本研究旨在探索高职院校学生使用电子词典对其英语写作及词汇习得是否存在积极影响，从而提出切实有效的写作教学方式。通过对上海某高职院校186名在校学生的问卷调查，研究并分析了英语写作中存在的问题及电子词典的使用现状。调查发现影响学生英语写作的主要障碍是词汇量小及汉式思维的习惯。尽管电子词典的使用在高职院校学生中非常普遍，但其使用策略和使用习惯则存在着较大的个体差异。
　　为了找出电子词典的使用对英语写作以及在写作过程中词汇的习得有无积极作用，研究者在两个班级中进行了写作测验。所有学生均被要求在规定时间内完成一篇作文。作文的题目及提纲已给定。在测验前，根据两班学生的英语水平，将其分为两组，其中实验组可在写作过程中使用电子词典，而控制组则不能。测验结果经由SPSS软件分析后发现，使用词典写作的小组表现更佳。他们在措辞及片段句方面的错误明显少于控制组。写作测验后，实验组有6名学生被挑出参加词汇测试。结果表明，所有学生都在写作中习得了一些接受性词汇和产出性词汇，所习得的接受性词汇高于产出性词汇。此外，英语水平较高的学生习得的词汇量也高于英语基础薄弱的学生。这次写作测验和词汇测试均表明电子词典的使用对英语写作及词汇习得有着积极且重要的作用。
　　本研究也带来了一些教学启发。考虑到电子词典的积极作用，高职院校应鼓励学生在英语写作中使用电子词典，然而，教师对学生的使用策略应给与指导与训练。
