英语经典散文中概念语法隐喻的文体价值研究

摘要

语法隐喻是系统功能语法中的重要内容，由韩礼德于1985年首先提出。近年来，语法隐喻的理论研究和实际运用都得到了迅速发展。其重要性也得到了国内外越来越多语言学家的认可。语法隐喻一般被认为是传统词汇隐喻之外的另一种隐喻形式，是语法层面上的隐喻。根据系统功能语法中的语言的三大元功能，语法隐喻也分为三种，即概念语法隐喻、人际语法隐喻和语篇语法隐喻。概念语法隐喻与及物系统中的意义识解有关，是三种语法隐喻中最重要的一种。
　　本文以英语散文为目标语类，并以现代英语散文中的经典作品为研究样本，试图从系统功能语法的角度，阐释英语经典散文中概念语法隐喻的产生机制和功能，以及概念语法隐喻的使用对散文语言风格的影响。在简要回顾相关理论和关键概念之后，本文对随机选取的英语经典散文样本进行了实证性统计分析，统计结果展示了样本中概念语法隐喻的分布特征。本研究采用的数据统计标准是基于Ravelli(1988)对概念语法隐喻的分类。统计结果和Ravelli的分类标准相符，证明了名词化是概念语法隐喻最主要的形式，而动词化、形容词化、和嵌入句这三种概念语法隐喻在英语经典散文中出现的频率较低。因此，本文的重点在于在系统功能语法框架下，对英语经典散文中名词化的特征进行详细分析;通过对比隐喻式和一致式在意义构建上的区别，揭示名词化在散文语言中的功能。基于以上分析，本文还尝试从散文的写作目的、文体正式程度、语言和认知的关系、美学目标等方面分析英语经典散文中的概念语法隐喻的文体价值。另外，虽然动词化、形容词化和嵌入句这三种概念语法隐喻在散文中的作用很小，但本文也对他们的用法以及在意义构建中的作用进行了分析，为的是更全面的检视概念语法隐喻的形成机制及功能。
　　本文的研究结果说明概念语法隐喻的使用和文体有关，是散文作者用于更好地实现其写作目的和文学语言特征的有效语法手段。本文的分析，期待有助于揭示英语散文的语类特征;对概念语法隐喻的认识或将能帮助读者更好地欣赏英语经典散文，发掘出通过概念语法隐喻表达的深层次意义。
