牙买加?金凯德，是为美国主流文学所认可的、世界文坛中甚为出色的加勒比海裔女作家之一。她文笔犀利，以语言为武器书写了加勒比海历史、小人物经历等一部部备受推崇之作，获得诸多文学奖项，还曾被提名国家图书奖。她的《一处小地方》从祖国安提瓜的“观光客”切入，揭露新旧殖民主义者以及腐败的安提瓜政府从自己的私利出发蓄意营造的修辞幻象，痛斥殖民主义的遗害，力求将饱受苦难的安提瓜人民以及其他被殖民语言蒙骗的世人一并从殖民话语的幻象中唤醒，并以坦率的语言予以回击，让世人了解安提瓜小岛居民所遭受的历史苦难及现实创伤。
