非文学文本中的修辞及其翻译策略——以《来自地狱的问题》的翻译节选为例

摘要

本报告所选翻译文本是2004年荣获普利策一般性非文学作品奖的《来自地狱的问题》(AProblemfromtheHell)。在书中,女作家萨曼莎·鲍威尔尖锐抨击了美国90年代失败的外交政策,认为美国对发生在波黑、科索沃和卢旺达的种族残杀负有不可推卸的责任。非文学翻译内容广泛,涉及政治、经济、法律、科技、文化等社会生活的各个领域,因此,研究非文学作品的翻译策略具有重要的现实意义。 非文学翻译中同样存在修辞问题,且直接影响着译文水准的高低。该报告通过分析非文学翻译的现状、特征以及修辞在非文学作品中的合理性和必要性,结合《来自地狱的问题》(AProblemfromtheHell)的翻译节选中的实例,探讨了非文学文本中的隐喻、委婉语和典故这三种常见的修辞手法的翻译技巧;同时强调这些翻译策略并不能适用于一切情况,翻译时需要根据具体情况进行灵活处理。
