蒙古族历史文化术语英译研究——以鲍登英译《黄金史纲》为例

摘要

典籍翻译对于弘扬民族文化、促进国际间交流具有重大意义。将满载中华民族文化的典籍翻译成英语，无疑是让世界了解中国文化，宣扬民族文化的有效途径。典籍之中往往富含多样的历史文化术语，然而由于文化差异的存在，当涉及两种语言的历史文化术语进行转换时，源语文化特色很难被完整地传达出来。因为这类词汇往往在一种文化中存在，在另一种文化中不存在。在翻译实践中，历史文化术语给翻译工作带来了极大的挑战。
　　《黄金史纲》是我国蒙古族编年史中最杰出的一部文献之一，在蒙古史学史和历史编纂学上占有极重要的地位，它为十七世纪蒙古学的发展和繁荣起到了承前启后的重要作用。然而长久以来，《黄金史纲》的翻译研究价值在国内外学术界还未引起足够的重视，对其英译本研究更是从未有人问津。
　　《黄金史纲》是一本文化标示性很强的蒙古族典籍，它蕴含着蒙古民族独有的，有别于其它文化的历史文化术语，反映了当时蒙古社会的文化风貌。本文参考了尤金·奈达与曹道巴特尔对文化的分类，以查尔斯·鲍登英译《黄金史纲》为案例，对其中的历史文化术语进行了分类研究。在艾克西拉关于文化专有项翻译理论的指导下，本文分析了鲍登译本中历史文化术语的处理，总结了鲍登在翻译历史文化术语时采取的八种翻译策略，并进一步探讨了影响鲍登翻译策略选择的相关因素。通过数据分析，作者得出结论，为了使原文与译文之间的差别降至最低，鲍登主要采用了保守的翻译方法。通过以上研究，作者希望本论文可以为今后蒙古族典籍中的历史文化术语翻译提供有益的参考。
