知识传播框架下《史记》《汉书》军事术语的语义溯源与翻译研究

摘要

典籍英译是中国文化传播一个重要途径。《史记》和《汉书》是中华文化典籍中具有代表性的著作，其中记载了大量的古代军事术语，展现了中国古代重要的军事文化。在其英译的过程中，术语中蕴含的文化知识也被传递到目标语文化中。
　　本文以《史记》《汉书》中文原文，《史记》的三个译本，即华兹生(Burton Watson)的Records of the Grand Historian of China、倪豪士(William Nienhauser)的The Grand Scribe's Records、杨宪益和戴乃迭的Selections from Records of the Historian和《汉书》的两个译本，即华兹生的Courtier and Commoner in Ancient China：Selections from the History of the Former Han by Pan Ku及德效骞(Homer Dubs)的The History of the Former Han Dynasty:A Critical Translation with Annotations为语料库。根据《中国古代军事文化大词典》的分类，提取出语料库中所有的军事术语并分为七类。以尼格尔·霍尔顿和哈拉尔德·科茨弗莱施（Nigel J. Holden and Harald F. O. Von Kortzfleisch）提出的知识传播模型为理论框架，分析该模型中的三个影响翻译质量的因素，即歧义（ambiguity）、干扰（interference）和缺少对等词（lack of equivalence）在《史记》、《汉书》军事术语英译中的体现。
　　基于上述分析，本文总结了译者遇到上述三个影响翻译质量的因素时所使用的几种翻译策略。但研究发现,几位译者有时会受到上述三个因素的影响，出现误译现象，阻碍了军事术语中文化知识的有效传播。本文利用语义溯源（etymological tracking）方法结合其他翻译策略，给出修改意见，从而确保军事术语英译的准确性,促进翻译过程中的知识传播。
