从文化的视角看待非英语专业大学英语教学

摘要

外语教学的内涵有数个层面构成，其中包括语法运用能力，语言交际能力和学生整体综合素质，以及在跨文化语境中学生有意识的文化观转变。无论是对于专家还是非专业人士来说，跨文化交际能力，即对于另一个社会文化中约定俗成习俗，风俗，信仰和运作系统，毫无疑问都是学习与该文化对应语言过程中不可或缺的组成部分。作为世界上拥有最多英语学习者的国家，中国经历了一个英语教学理论和实践不断发展的进程，而且该进程特别注重把文化教学融入语言教学之中以提高跨文化交流的能力。 跨文化交际能力由三个层次构成：目的语交际能力，语用能力和跨文化批判能力，其中语用能力又可分为两个层面，语篇能力和语用策略能力。这些能力都在文中一一论述。 以传统的眼光来看，文化教学主要受两种观点的影响。第一种观点强调的是那些实际的、与相关统计信息保持一致的文化信息的传递，包括目的语文化国家的制度结构和上层建筑的其他领域，换言之，文化教学的范畴主要是以知识为导向的，因此它仅局限于目的语国家的文学、历史、地理、政治等，“英语文学史”、“英语文学选读”等课程就属此类。另一种观点则重视英语学习者的交际能力、文化意识、教学方法可行性。教师应致力于将以上文化教学的多层面多视角内涵拓展到交际常规，生活方式，价值系统，风俗习惯，以及民间传说等的高度。因此，教师要采取有效措施来通过有效提高学生的语言能力以及跨文化交际能力来发掘学生对文化理念的阐释和构建跨越目的文化沟通的桥梁。
