人际功能视角下商务英语合同的翻译研究

摘要

商务英语合同客观、严谨、正式,属于特殊用途英语。本文从人际功能视角出发,以相关的商务英语合同及其译本为研究对象,试图展现其翻译的特殊之处及相应的翻译策略。人际功能是韩礼德提出的三大元功能之一,他指出人际功能可以通过语气和情态系统来实现。作者选择了相关合同文本中的条款作为样本,采取了定性分析的研究方法来研究商务英语合同的特点及其翻译策略。通过分析,发现商务英语合同及其中文译本在语气和情态系统的表达方面具有不同的特点,并在此基础上提出了相关的翻译策略。在翻译语气系统时,主语通常转换为其他成分或省略,时间限定成分省略,情态附加语转换为状语;在翻译情态系统时,情态助动词可直译,被动语态转换为主动语态,表示客观取向的“it”省略。在研究过程中,分别列举了合同条款支持观点,并进行适当的解析。本论文进一步证明了人际功能理论在商务英语合同翻译过程中的可用性,丰富了相关的翻译研究。
