非英语专业大学生的跨文化交际能力调查以及对英语教学的启示

摘要

当今世界人们的全球意识日益增强，不同社会、文化和地区间人们的交往越来越频繁。这一切使得跨文化交际成为这个全球化时代的一个突出特征，具有跨文化交际能力的人才已经成为各种急需的人才之一。越来越多的外语专家及研究者认识到，外语学习不仅是语言学习，更重要的是文化学习。传统的外语教学是为了培养学生阅读目的语文学作品以及运用目的语写作的能力。而当今的外语教学是以培养学生在跨文化交际情形下的交际能力，即跨文化交际能力(张红玲，2007)。 许多研究者已经从理论实践方面对跨文化交际能力进行了大量研究，并对如何培养以及提高跨文化交际能力提出了很多合理有效的见解。但对非英语专业大学生的跨文化交际能力的调查研究并不多己见，而且很少有研究者从知识，情感态度，以及行为三个方面对学生的跨文交际能力进行全面系统的调查。本文作者为了了解中国非英语专业大学生的跨文化交际能力的现状，跨文化教学状况，并试图找到在外语教学中提高学生跨文化交际能力的有效途径，对120名来自不同专业的非英语专业学生进行了测试和问卷调查，本文首先介绍了此项研究的相关背景及其必要性。然后回顾了跨文化交际能力的相关理论和文献，尤其是关于跨文化交际能力的概念及构成，为后文的研究奠定理论基础。接着作者详细的介绍本研究中的调查方法。其中调查工具节选王振亚的社会文化试卷，张红玲的博士论文中的调查问卷，以及Hammer&Bennette(2002)的跨文化发展模式(Intercultural Development Inventory)从知识、情感和行为方面对120名不同专业的非英语专业大学生的跨文化交际能力进行了全面的研究。所收集的数据用社会科学统计包(SPSS)16.0进行了分析。研究的结果表明：非英语专业大学生跨文化交际能力的整体水平较低。其中文化知识比较匮乏；跨文化敏感度不强，民族中心主义普遍存在；文化语言行为和非语言行为，不够得体恰当。研究者对研究的结果从理论和实践两方面进行了细致的讨论和分析。通过问卷的进一步调查，作者揭示了大学生对文化学习以及文化教学的态度。研究者根据这些宝贵的调查结果提出了一些相应的教学建议。最后作者总结归纳了本文存在的不足以及将来可行的研究方向。 作者希望通过这次实证性调查研究，揭示非英语专业大学生的跨文化交际能力现状，以及他们对文化教学及文化学习的看法，从而为大学英语教学中的文化教学提供一些有意义的建议。
