中美名校校训的文化差异性研究

摘要

大学校训，是大学校园文化背景和传统的表现。校训体现的是一种德行和精神，如同一所学校的灵魂，它能反映学校的办学理念和价值取向，体现大学的文化和精神底蕴。校训的作用就是为了让广大师生深刻领悟这些精神，并把这些精神融入到每个师生的工作和学习中，化作他们自己的精气神。所以深刻领悟校训并实践之才是最终目的，而践行的前提就是深刻领悟校训的真谛。通过对校训的研究，可以了解大学文化的核心和灵魂。
　　 本文首先分析了校训的特点，加深对校训的了解。进而通过USNEWS，QS，THE和ARWU四大权威机构排名综合分析选择出了中国排名前15的大学和美国排名前12的大学并对这些大学校训进行异同分析。从校训的内容，功能，展现方式和思想根源等方面发现了中美校训的相同点。在差异性分析中，分别从校训的形式和内容两方面进行分析。在形式方面，分别从校训的字面特征，校训主语是人是物以及校训的稳定性三方面进行分析。在校训的文化内容方面，分析这些中美名牌大学校训是否反映霍夫斯泰德的文化价值取向理论的五个文化维度。结果显示中美校训可以反映权力距离，不确定性规避，个人主义和集体主义这三个维度，没有反映男性气质和女性气质倾向，中美校训并不完全反映长短期取向的所有特点。这证明校训反映文化，在可以反映出的文化内容中基本符合霍夫斯泰德的文化价值取向。
　　 通过这些分析，得出了中国大学校训的不足之处，希望中国大学校训能够增强稳定性，不轻易变动，并且希望通过本文的分析可以引起更多人对大学校训的重视，促进中美间的跨文化交流。
