摘要

《新旧中国—三十年的个人回忆和观察》由西方来华传教士慕雅德撰写，是中国学的重要组成部分，具有一定的研究价值，因此对其进行翻译研究应引起我们足够的重视。
　　《新旧中国》属于回忆录，因此原作以描写和叙述为主。从词汇上看，本书涉及大量专有名词和文化负载词的翻译，词汇具有鲜明的时代特色;句法上，多用长难句、定语从句和被动句等句子结构;从语篇来看，原作在整体上连贯衔接。
　　根据原作的词汇、句法和语篇特点，作者以金陧的“等效论”为指导原则，适当地采用直译、意译、分译、逆译、合译等不同的翻译方法，解决翻译实践中的难点，使目标语读者获得与原作读者相同的效果，希望这篇论文能帮助我们更好地认识此类文本的翻译特点，并为今后此类文本的翻译实践提供有益的参考。
