摘要

本研究主要以输入假设理论为依据,提出了在阅读理解中,话题熟悉度能有效地帮助二语学习者理解并猜测生词的含义,从而使得阅读中的偶然词汇变得更有效。对涉及到的读者的背景图式和词汇推理过程也进行了相关探讨。 本文提出了三个主要研究问题: 1.话题熟悉度对阅读中偶然词汇习得有很大的影响吗?如果有,是什么样的影响呢? 2.如果话题熟悉度确实对阅读中的偶然词汇习得有很大影响,那么随着时间(21天后)的推移,这种影响还好持续存在吗? 3.如何描述和解释研究中所观察到的阅读中偶然词汇习得结果?或者说阅读中偶然词汇习得的模式是什么? 为了回答上述问题,本研究对40名大学一年级非英语专业的本科生进行了实证调查。阅读材料是三篇内容虚构的短文。其中一组受试者阅读带有背景材料的文章而另一组阅读没有背景材料的同样的文章。阅读完文章后,研究者采用两种测试目标词汇(每篇10个)的方法一翻译和多项选择来测量受试的词汇习得。三个星期后后,同样的测试再进行一次。 实验结果表明,在两种测试方法中,话题熟悉度都对阅读中二语词汇的偶然习得有显著影响。这与Pulido的研究结果是一致的。研究表明实验中中国学生运用背景知识来有效帮助阅读理解及词汇意义的推理。研究结果不仅为证明主题熟悉度制约阅读中二语词汇的偶然习得提供了证据,而且表明阅读理解及建立新词汇的形式一意义联系的认知过程受到读者背景知识图式的影响。 最后,本文在强调话题熟悉度对阅读中偶然词汇习得的重要作用的同时,也提出了对于词汇教学的一些建议。
