摘要

This paper presents the results of monitoring programs of volumetric water contents and densities in the surficial clay soils of Montreal's Island, by means of density/moisture depth gages. It presents interpretation problems which were caused by the existence of void spaces between the access tubes and the surrounding soils. The paper finally reports soil-water characteristic curves for the soils encountered on the sites and indicates that, due to the compressive nature of the soils structure, mathematical modelling of soil water movement becomes a difficult task.
